Evening Calm Tea Blend: A Gentle Herbal Tea for Relaxation & Rest

Even Calm Herbal Tea Blend
There are some evenings when we simply need a little help slowing down.
Modern life often asks us to move quickly, stay connected, and carry more stimulation than our minds and bodies were designed for.
This can make it difficult sometimes to slow the mind and calm the body before bed.
Creating a simple evening ritual can help signal that the day is beginning to wind down.
This gentle herbal tea blend combines calming herbs traditionally used to support relaxation, emotional well-being, and a sense of ease before bed.
Whether enjoyed while reading, journaling, spending time with loved ones, or simply sitting quietly for a few moments, this blend offers an invitation to pause and settle into the evening.

Many herbal sleep blends focus primarily on making us sleepy.
While there is certainly a place for herbs traditionally used to support sleep, I wanted to create a blend that focuses first on helping the body and mind transition out of the busyness of the day; to help slow the mind’s chatter and bring a sense of calm to the body.
Sometimes the most supportive thing we can do for sleep is create space for calm before our heads ever touch the pillow.
This blend is designed to be gentle enough for regular use while providing a soothing evening ritual that supports rest, relaxation, and nervous system nourishment.
How This Blend Supports Relaxation and Rest
One of the things I love about gentle evening tea blends is that they do not have to be overly complicated to be supportive.
This blend was created to help the body and mind begin shifting out of the busyness of the day and into a softer evening rhythm.
Rather than focusing on strong sedation, Evening Calm combines herbs traditionally used to support relaxation, emotional ease, and a gentle sense of winding down.

Key Herbs and Their Traditional Uses
Linden Flowers
Linden has long been used in traditional herbal practices to support relaxation and ease feelings of tension or restlessness. It is often included in evening tea blends because of its gentle, calming nature.
Modern research suggests linden contains plant compounds with antioxidant activity and may support relaxation, though more research is needed to better understand its effects in humans.
Lemon Balm
Lemon balm is a member of the mint family traditionally used to promote calm, support digestion, and ease occasional nervous tension.
Research suggests lemon balm may help support mood, relaxation, and cognitive performance during periods of stress.
Chamomile
Chamomile is one of the most widely used herbs for relaxation and sleep support.
Traditionally, it has been used to calm the nervous system, support digestion, and encourage restful sleep.
Researchers have identified several compounds in chamomile, including apigenin, which may contribute to its calming reputation.
Rose Petals
Rose is often associated with emotional well-being and comfort.
Traditional herbalists have long used rose to support emotional balance and create a sense of calm. In tea blends, rose also adds a beautiful floral aroma and gentle sweetness.
Lavender
Lavender has a long history of use for relaxation and stress reduction.
Its naturally occurring aromatic compounds, including linalool, have been studied for their potential calming effects and are often associated with feelings of relaxation.
Orange Peel
Orange peel contributes a subtle citrus note that helps brighten the blend.
Traditionally, citrus peels have been used to support digestion and emotional well-being while adding warmth and aroma to herbal teas.
Flavor Profile
This blend is soft, floral, and lightly citrusy.
The linden and chamomile provide a gentle herbal sweetness, while rose and lavender contribute delicate floral notes. Orange peel adds a bright citrus finish that helps balance the blend beautifully.
It is comforting without being overly floral and pairs especially well with quiet evening activities such as reading, journaling, meditation, or simply taking a few moments to unwind.
Evening Calm Herbal Tea Blend
Ingredients
Equipment
Method
- Mix herbs thoroughly in a large bowl until evenly combined.
- Because loose herbs can become dusty during blending, it is recommended to wear a dust mask while mixing larger batches.
- Store the finished blend in an airtight glass container away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture to preserve freshness, aroma, and potency.
- Single Cup Preparation
- Add 1–2 teaspoons of Sleep Tight Tea to 8–10 oz hot water.
- Teapot or Evening Batch
- Use approximately 1 tablespoon of tea per 2 cups of water.
- This blend can be prepared in a tea kettle, teapot, or small saucepan, though a cast iron pot creates an especially rich and comforting nighttime infusion.
- Pour water just below boiling over the herbs and cover while steeping to help preserve the delicate calming aromatics from lavender, chamomile, and lemon balm.
- Allow tea to steep for 15–20 minutes for deeper herbal extraction and a more relaxing evening cup.
- Strain and enjoy warm.
