Happy Tummy Tea Blend

Our digestive systems do a lot for us every day.

They help us process nourishment, absorb nutrients, and support countless functions throughout the body. Yet many of us have experienced those days when our stomach feels unsettled, digestion feels sluggish, or stress seems to show up directly in our gut.

Researchers continue to learn more about the complex relationship between digestion, the gut microbiome, and overall well-being. Factors such as stress, dietary patterns, illness, medications, and environmental exposures—including things like glyphosate that are being actively studied for their potential impact on the gut microbiome—may all play a role in digestive health.

One thing that has become increasingly clear is that digestion does not exist in isolation. Our digestive system is connected to the rest of the body in ways we are still working to fully understand. What affects our stress levels can affect our digestion. What affects our digestion can influence how we feel physically, emotionally, and even how well we sleep.

While there is still much to learn, many people find that supporting digestive wellness often involves looking at the bigger picture—nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management, and the small daily habits that help us care for ourselves consistently over time.

Herbal tea is one of those simple supportive practices.

While it is not a cure-all, a thoughtfully crafted blend can become a gentle ritual that encourages us to slow down, tune into our bodies, and offer ourselves a little extra support when we need it.

This Happy Tummy Tea Blend combines soothing, calming, and traditionally supportive herbs into a warm, comforting cup designed to support digestive wellness while encouraging a sense of ease.

Whether enjoyed after a meal, during times of occasional digestive discomfort, or simply as part of a daily wellness routine, this blend offers a nourishing way to support both body and mind.

Why I Created This Blend

Digestive issues have been part of my life for as long as I can remember.

They also run in my family, particularly on my mother’s side.

Over the years, I have gone through numerous medical evaluations including blood work, endoscopies, colonoscopies, and other testing in search of answers. While I am grateful that serious conditions were ruled out, I often found myself returning to the same conclusion: stress-induced IBS.

If you’ve ever struggled with digestive issues, you know how frustrating that answer can feel.

You know something is wrong.

You feel uncomfortable.

Yet there is often no single solution.

Through years of trial and error, I have found several things that help support my digestive wellness:

  • Choosing gentle, nourishing foods
  • Following a low-FODMAP approach when symptoms flare
  • Limiting heavy meals, sweets, and high-fat foods before bed
  • Incorporating regular movement and exercise
  • Practicing nervous system regulation through gentle yoga, meditation, and mindfulness
  • Using supportive herbal teas like this one

One of the things I’ve learned is that my stomach is often one of the first places that lets me know something is off.

When stress is building, when I haven’t been caring for myself well, when life feels overwhelming, my digestive system tends to notice before the rest of me does.

In many ways, I have come to see my digestive system as one of my body’s early warning signals—a gentle invitation to slow down, pay attention, and offer myself a little more support.

This blend was created from that perspective.

Not as a cure.

Not as a quick fix.

But as one small tool that can help support digestive wellness while creating a comforting daily ritual of care.

reating a comforting daily ritual of care.

How This Blend Supports Digestive Wellness

One of the things I love most about herbal tea is that a thoughtfully crafted blend can support the body in several ways at once.

Rather than focusing on a single symptom, this blend combines herbs traditionally used to support digestive comfort, tissue health, relaxation, and overall digestive wellness.

Gut Soothing Layer

These herbs have traditionally been used to help soothe and support the digestive tract.

  • Marshmallow Root
  • Slippery Elm Bark
  • Plantain Leaf

These herbs are often referred to as demulcents because they contain naturally occurring compounds that create a soothing, mucilage-rich preparation when infused.

Digestive Comfort Layer

These herbs have long histories of traditional use for digestive wellness and occasional digestive discomfort.

  • Chamomile
  • Ginger Root
  • Fennel Seed

Together they contribute warmth, balance, and digestive support while creating a pleasant flavor profile.

Gut-Brain Connection Layer

The digestive system and nervous system are closely connected.

Many people notice that stress, overwhelm, or anxiety can affect how their stomach feels.

This blend includes herbs traditionally used to support both digestive wellness and relaxation.

  • Lemon Balm
  • Lavender

These herbs help create a calming and comforting tea experience.

Digestive Tissue Support Layer

Traditional herbalists have long used these herbs to support healthy digestive tissues and overall digestive wellness.

  • Calendula
  • Plantain

These additions help create a more nourishing and balanced blend.

Flavor and Aroma Layer

These herbs help round out the flavor while also contributing their own traditional uses.

  • Spearmint
  • Cinnamon Bark
  • Licorice Root

Together they create a tea that is soothing, warming, and enjoyable to drink regularly.

  7. Use approximately 1 tablespoon of tea per 2 cups of water.
  8. This blend can be prepared in a tea kettle, teapot, or small saucepan, though a cast iron pot creates an especially rich and comforting nighttime infusion.
  9. Pour water just below boiling over the herbs and cover while steeping to help preserve the delicate calming aromatics from lavender, chamomile, and lemon balm.
  10. Allow tea to steep for 15–20 minutes for deeper herbal extraction and a more relaxing evening cup.
